Whiskey on the Rocks

High end bartenders will tell you that to enjoy cold whiskey is truly a difficult practice. An issue arises when serving a fine spirit on ice that to truly enjoy the full flavor you must drink far to fast to enjoy the drink, otherwise the flavors will be diluted by the melting ice. You could cool the bottle, but this is frowned upon as it will begin solidifying the liquid and thus slows the release of aromatics, this too mutes the flavor of the drink. High end bars will hand carve ice balls for your drink as spheres melt slower than other shapes. So, you have two viable options which I have found.

The first is a spherical ice tray. At $16 its pretty pricey for ice but will do the same trick as a hand carved sphere while not having the risk of impaling.

The other option is a bit more on the literal side. These carved soapstone cool your favorite spirit while leaving the flavor intact. Simply leave in your freezer and they will be ready whenever you are. At $20 they are adorable, reusable and easily located. You can find these ice stones all over the internet, including Amazon.

solar system

Kinda going towards the steam punk side is this desk top Solar system. Made from solid brass gearing, it will add a a bit of old world class to your pad. Granted its a bit on the pricey side at just under $500 bucks for a fully assembled and just over $400 so a put it together yourself model, but is it super kool?

Yes it sure as hell is.
Wind it up and watch it go, with all the planets with their own moons all rotating around a large brass sun or their corresponding planets this mechanical kool works with clockwork precision.

There are few things out there right now that use gears, and true mechanics anymore so if you have a few extra bucks this would definitely be a good addition to any decor.

Terra Grass Chair

An unbelievable product out there right now is the Terra Grass Chair. A yard chair that is part of the yard itself.

You can buy one here
However the design is so simple that anyone with a saw and some savvy could make one for the price of a sheet of plywood.

Lets start it off

The first thing I'm going to put up is a kool Stencil I found at a site called Skull A Day. Now if your like me I'm sure your sick of all those stupid skull ladened glittery and rhinestoned shirts out there that "tough guys" like to wear, so when I first went onto this site I was not expecting much. But thankfully I was surprised, Skull a Day is actually pretty kool, it's an on-going blog where people submit interesting skull shaped objects or artworks, there is also a free download section which is where I found this.

This interesting wall decal will add an almost old world look reminiscent of Damask wall papers while being completely new. Seeing as how its a stencil download, you decide what size, spacing, color, and so on, to make it. For just a few bucks on paint you will have something no one you know has.
There is plenty of other kool stuff on there so check it out.

Hipster House

For a while now I have been spending a good bit of time online trying to find kool, young, off the wall, original and creative DIY project for my new place, I was shocked to find that there is no site dedicated to this idea. So I thought "screw it I'll do it myself." And thats what I did. Hipster House is a blog where I will post all the kool DIY projects and products I find online so that others won't have to put the time in that I already have. I'll also be posting other things such as underground bands, artist ect. and write out tutorials for simple DIYs. Now I'm not so full of myself that I think the things I like or find are the only things that should be shown, if you have any sites, ideas, tutorials, bands, artists, movies ect. send them my way and I'll put them up.
